Why Theology Matters
This weekend I will be teaching an EQUIP seminar entitled “Why Theology Matters.” I am teaching this because i believe with all my heart that our everyday decisions are influenced by a set of beliefs we operate on. Whether or not we can articulate these beliefs, we operate by them.
I’m also doing this in hopes of shedding light on the greatness & majesty of our God. I believe A.W. Tozer was right when he said “The heaviest obligation lying upon the Christian Church today is to purify and elevate her concept of God until it is once more worthy of Him – and of her.” What we believe and how we live flows ultimately from what we believe about God. At least, that is what I intend for us to break down and work through Sunday Night.
To accomplish this, we are going to wed systematic theology to ethics over the course of a couple of hours together. We will do a survey of systematic theology then look at how our theology influences the way we live. We will finish with some case studies and a chance for you to really put your theology to work!
I hope you will join us! 6-8pm Sunday Night June 12th at our Brier Creek Campus’ South venue. Childcare provided if you RSVP to let us know.
Sounds like good stuff Spence. I’ve just read several blogs ripping theology over practice (ethics). I wish people realized they are wedded.
