Why Im Not a Christian

A few years ago Randy Newman wrote a book called Questioning Evangelism that resonated with many, many Christians. Many believe the reason it resonated so much is because the premise of the book was Christians need to ask questions and LISTEN to the responses non-christians give them. Unfortunately for years the church at large had been in a habit of TELLING people a formulaic message in a manner that seldom exhibited the virtues of love & grace that Christ exhibited in his interactions with those around him. While we are never going to change the content of the christian message, we should be willing to listen to our neighbors when we ask them what they believe when it comes to spiritual things.

To that end, starting sunday our church is taking a look at the major questions / issues people have with Christianity. To prepare for this series, we created a website specifically designed for non-christians to anonymously give us feedback on. Here is the problem, most who read this blog and other summit-related blogs are in fact, Christians. So for this site to have any real effect, we need you to get this site in front of those you know who are not Christians. While we are going to be answering these questions as a local church, anybody who has internet access is welcome to respond on the site. The site is whyimnotachristian.com.

Send this thing out everywhere you can. I am pumped about opening our ears and listening to our neighbors.

Hey…the book you’re referencing is by Randy Newman. Normally, this offense would be unforgivable, but seeing as you’re a new dad, and as experience shows, you’re probably dead tired; I’m sure we can work out some other method of reparrations!
I’m really looking forward to this study. Apologetics have always been a topic I love. Maybe it’s because I love to debate – who knows?
    Keep the posts coming!
